Sightless - Mindful Meanderings

So I went to my normal Wednesday power yoga class. I love this class...cause well, it kicks my butt every week. But this week it was hard in a different way. We got all comfortable and ready and...she pulled out sashes to tie over our eyes! We were doing yoga...blindfolded. Ever try that? I hadn't. It is hard. Your balance, your awareness, your comfort - it all changes! Mostly you aren't able to look around the room and take ques from other people. Balance is nearly impossible. But on the flip side - distractions plummet.

The most noticeable thing to me was that I kept subtly turning. I'd step back into a lung and my foot would be no-where-near on my mat. Where was I turning? Well, to my right and a little in front of me was a window. The only light in the room. A light that was still perceivable from under my white sash. I kept turning towards the light.

I began thinking about this. Mostly my mind traveled to Heaven and how God will be the light. "God is light, and in him is no darkness" (1 John1:5). Funny how we find comfort in the light. I think God intends for it to be this way. But in the busyness and complicated-ness of life, we get caught up in all sorts of darkness. More often we get caught up with things that are only masquerading as light. But in Heaven the distractions won't be there. The other things to "measure" ourselves by won't either. We will be free to orient ourselves to the light, in fact, I think it will be quite natural for us to do so.

My 1st photo shoot... her second baby on the way!

Well, as I mentioned before, I am doing some more photography around here and working on some assignments. I will be posting them (both the assignments and the results) under "Projects" if your interested in that sort of thing. .

The other week I had my first maternity shoot with a good friend of mine, Brittany Henderson. I have been frequenting the local climbing gym with her and her baby bump but now I got to capture her in her home, just relaxing. It was a blast! And who doesn't LOVE little Scottie?!

"What you been up to?"

People ask me this question and I say, "Not much." And not much life changing is going on. But what I REALLY mean is:

We've been planning trips and timing chores, schooling, training, laughing and wiping up a few tears (luckily not our own). We've been climbing, tumbling, snacking, skiing, sledding (only once, no snow), typing and typing and typing. We've been nursing a sore wrist, doing lots of power yoga (feel the burn in those legs), taking the dog on walks, trying to groom the dog ourselves (failed), paying to have the dog groomed and not recognizing him when we picked him up.

We've been adding and subtracting, watching NCIS, playing lots of "prince and princess," and watched Beauty and the Beast for the first time. We've been making new friends, keeping old ones, and enjoying where God has us. We've been staying up late with those "no-kid" friends of ours and drinking lots of coffee cause of it. We've been pep talking Chris cause he turned 30 and enjoying Birthday parties. We've been reading and blogging, mastering social media, and taking and taking and taking photos.

So it is life as usual...around here! Now...off to the FIS Freestyle World Cup in Deer Valley. New adventures! Abishai was sad to hear he wouldn't be going off the jumps- just watching... we'll let you know how it goes!
